Raven Virginia, Maryland, Delaware Wall Map
Exquisitely detailed shaded relief map of the states of Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware, plus the District of Columbia.  It is vividly enhanced with graduated color tints to show the elevation levels; the shaded relief makes the mountains and hills stand out.  Details include lakes, rivers, creeks, and marshes.  Spot elevations are provided for high points and key cities and towns.  Although major and minor roads are shown with numbering, these maps are not well-suited for trip planning or business-purposes, for the road data are not easy to see; the beauty of the physical features definitely take precedence.  Also shows railways (printed the same neutral color as the roads) and airports; and numerous cities and towns large and small (see sample at right.)

No detail is shown beyond the boundaries of the title states, other than adjacent coastlines.  Tick marks unobtrusively show latitude and longitude coordinates at one degree intervals.

Scale, 1:500,000 (1 inch = about 8 miles).  Size: about 65 x 34 inches.  Rolled.  Paper.

USGS State of Virginia Topographic Shaded Relief Wall Map
Detailed topographic map employs shaded relief to show the form of the mountains.  Flatter areas are emphasized with a faint green tint.  (See above, with detail at right.)  Elevation contours are included; elevations are provided for important cities and peaks.  Cities, towns, and smaller communities are included.  County boundaries are marked, and counties are labeled.  Shows primary and secondary highways, and other principal roads, with Interstate, US, and state highways numbered.  Shows National Parks, National Forests, Wildlife Refuges, and National Historic Sites, and other conservation areas.

As you would expect from a topographic map, it also shows lakes, rivers, creeks, marshes and other water features, with many of them labeled.  No details are shown of adjacent states, other than borders and coastlines.  The whole map is marked with latitude and longitude lines at one degree intervals.  Note the publication date: These maps are best used for general reference and physical geography, not for showing current roads and other features which have likely changed in the 30+ years since first publication.

Scale, 1:500,000 (1 inch = about 8 miles).  Contour interval: 200 feet.  Size: about 62 inches wide x 30 inches high.  Rolled.  Paper.
