Hubbard Scientific/Rand McNally Geophysical Raised Relief Map of the United States
Beautiful raised relief map emphasizing the natural coloring of the landscape, yet with state boundaries clearly demarcated. Relief shading further emphasizes the form of the mountains. Shows large and medium-sized cities and towns, and even some small towns when they are the only communities for miles around. Railroads are mapped (but not highways), and also national parks, monuments, and recreation areas. Alaska and Hawaii are shown in insets (with Oahu enlarged and duplicated in another inset!).

Hubbard Scientific United States Natural Color Relief raised relief map (48 contiguous states)
Another beautiful raised relief map on a smaller scale, also emphasizing the natural coloring of the landscape. This one also shows state boundaries and names, though they are not quite as easy to see as the larger map above. Shows large and medium-sized cities and towns—I estimate about two-thirds as many as the larger map. Good coverage of older national parks, monuments, and recreation areas. The darkest greens on this map are not as dark as those on the larger map, which makes reading the names on those portions easier. Does not show highways or railroads. Does not show Alaska and Hawaii.
Scale, about 1:8,300,000 (1 inch = about 131 miles). Size: about 25½ x 16½ inches.

Hubbard Scientific United States Satellite raised relief map
This map shows the 48 contiguous states with coloring based on satellite imagery. There are no state boundaries and no place names whatsoever. Without names, the map is therefore useful for quizzing students on the physical features of the country. It is an inherently fascinating display in itself, for gazing and reflection in spare moments in the office or at home.
According to the map's legend, the "map was compiled using satellite data acquired from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This satellite image is called Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer data and was processed by Advanced Satellite Production's, Inc."
