Specialty Raised Relief Maps
Adirondack Park, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver,
Lake of the Ozarks, and Table Rock Lake regions

These maps are specially designed to cover a particular region.  They are different from the other Regional Raised Relief Maps in that they do not all have topographic contours, nor are their boundaries defined by "quadrangle" lines, nor do they come in a standard scale.  Also, some of these use life-like coloring to show the terrain somewhat as it really appears.
If having raised relief maps sent to Alaska or Hawai'i, please read shipping page before ordering!
We do not ship raised relief maps out of the USA.
Adirondack Park: Relief Map
Excellent new raised relief map of New York's large state park.  Color tints ranging from green to gray to yellow, tan and white show elevation levels.  Fine detail shows the numerous lakes, river, brooks and ponds, with the medium-sized to larger ones labeled.  Important mountain peaks are also labeled, with the elevation in feet provided for most of them.  Roads throughout the area are shown and numbered, and towns and villages within the region are also marked.

Map detail and three-dimensional raised relief stops at the park boundaries.  A small inset map shows the location of the park within New York State and relative to adjacent areas.  Base map produced for Adirondack Life magazine.

Scale, about 1:333,333 (1 inch = about 5.3 miles).  Size: about 23½ x 30¼ inches.
Hubbard Scientific, 2007.  New.
Item #HS-442.  Shipping weight: 6.1 lbs.  Manufacturer’s price: $35.00.  Your price: $31.50
Denver’s Playground: 3-D Satellite Relief Map
Detailed raised relief map covering favorite mountain recreational areas around Denver, Colorado and vicinity.  The map covers all of Rocky Mountain National Park south of Trail Ridge, east to Loveland and Greeley, south to Brighton and the metropolitan Denver area, and with Hagar Mountain and the Eisenhower Tunnel in the southwest corner.  The background is based on USGS satellite photos, and the coloration is natural with rocky peaks, forested slopes, and farms on the plains looking much as they really do from the air.  Lakes and streams are colored bright blue for clarity.  The cartography is also derived from USGS maps; it shows major and minor roads, cities of all sizes, railroads, ski areas, lookout towers, quarries, county boundaries, and more.  Topographic contour lines are not shown.

Scale, about 1:250,000 (1 inch = about 4 miles).  Vertical exaggeration is 4:1.  Size: about 21 x 21 inches.
Hubbard Scientific, 1994.  New.
Item #HS-K-DR2121.  Shipping weight: 5.0 lbs.  Manufacturer’s price: $24.00.  Your price: $21.60    (Out of stock, do not expect to restock this summer)

Los Angeles and Vicinity: Satellite Raised Relief Map
This map combines satellite imagery with standard map symbols to make a beautifully detailed three dimensional model of the Los Angeles region.  Coverage includes all of the city of Los Angeles, extends westward to Santa Paula and Camarillo, north to Lancaster in the Mojave Desert, east to Upland and Ontario, and south to Huntington Beach and Irvine.  Some of the areas in between include Sespe Condor Sanctuary, Castaic Lake, Simi Valley, San Fernando Valley, Soledad Canyon, Mount Baden-Powell, Santa Monica Mountains and more.  The map also shows major and minor roads, cities and towns, airports, county boundaries, reservors, and other features.

Since the satellite image background is rather dark in the mountainous areas, and most of the map symbols and lettering are printed in black, it is difficult to read them in many places.

Scale, about 1:250,000 (1 inch = about 4 miles).  Vertical exaggeration is about 2.67:1.  Size: about 25 x 21 inches.
Distributed by Hubbard Scientific, originally produced by Kistler from USGS satellite photo and cartography, 1990.  New.
Item #HS-K-LA2521.  Shipping weight: 5.0 lbs.  Manufacturer’s price: $17.25.  Your price: $15.55   (Out of stock; unlikely to restock until fall or later)
San Francisco Bay Region raised relief map
Detailed raised relief map vividly shows the terrain that makes the Bay Area such a special place to live or visit.  The background is colored grass green (with wooded areas a darker green), such as the area might look like on a spring day (provided agricultural fields were not freshly plowed and city roofs were painted green!).  The map also shows major and minor roads, cities and towns, airports, railroads, county boundaries, and parks.  (Although dated 1993, roads and park boundaries are a good ten years or more older than that.)

Coverage ranges from Santa Rosa and Point Reyes, east to the Delta Region, south to Gilroy (including about half of Henry Coe State Park) and Santa Cruz.  The map is centered on Oakland and San Francisco.

Scale, about 1:317,000 (1inch = about 5 miles).  Vertical exaggeration is about 8.25:1.  Size: about 21½ x 25 inches.
Hubbard Scientific, base map by H.M. Gousha Company, 1993 and 1995.  New.
Item #HS-K-SF2225.  Shipping weight: 5.0 lbs.  Manufacturer’s price: $23.50.  Your price: $21.15   (Out of stock; unlikely to restock until fall or later)
Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri raised relief map
Detailed topographic map showing most of this winding, central Missouri reservoir and vicinity.  Shows contour lines, major and minor roads, county boundaries, the extent of woodlands, major power lines, and the towns and communities of Eldon, Camdenton, Rocky Mount, Brumley, Linn Creek, Bannister, Dodds, Freedom, Toronto, Kaiser, Osage Beach, Hurricane Deck, and more.  Also depicts section lines.

Don’t look too closely at the raised relief, though.  If you do, you’ll find bends of the rivers sometimes flowing up the sides of raised relief slopes, more than one creek running on the crests of ridges, and some which start on one side of a ridge, go over the top, and down the other slope.  While none of the raised relief maps available on this website (or anywhere) are 100% accurate—i.e. the actual raised relief does not always precisely match the topographic contours or shaded relief of the printed map—this one seems somewhat more mismatched than most.

Still, the map in general shows well the ruggedness of the region, and is unquestionably a better tool for understanding the topography than a flat map.  Most folks don’t pay enough attention to detail to notice the defects—and those of us who do can enjoy a smug feeling of superiority in spotting what others overlook!

Scale, about 1:100,000 (1 inch = about 1.6 miles).  Contour interval: 20 meters.  Size: about 21 x 18 inches.
Produced by Mainly Maps (distributed by Hubbard Scientific), 1993 (based on 1983 US Geological Survey maps).  New.
Item #HS-M-LO1921.  Shipping weight: 5.0 lbs.  Manufacturer’s price: $17.25.  Your price: $10.00 (Closeout price)
Table Rock Lake, Missouri raised relief map
Detailed topographic raised relief map showing most of this convoluted, southern Missouri reservoir and vicinity.  Shows contour lines, major and minor roads, county boundaries, the extent of woodlands, major power lines, and the towns and communities of Branson, Scholten, Wheelerville, Cross Roads, Galena, Stutts, Reeds Spring, Cape Fair, Marvel Cave, Lakeview, Kimberling City, Silver Dollar City, Garber, Shell Knob, Viola, Golden, Carr Lane, Lampe, Hollister, Kirbyville, Rockaway Beach, Walnut Shade, Ridgedale, Edgewater Beach, Ozark Beach, Chestnut Ridge, Day and probably a few more I overlooked.  Also depicts section lines.

Like the Lake of the Ozarks maps described above, the raised relief is not real precise, and you’ll find bends of some creeks flowing along the sides of raised relief slopes, and some ridgelines shifted as much as a quarter of an inch away from where the topographic contour lines show them to belong.

Scale, about 1:100,000 (1 inch = about 1.6 miles).  Contour interval: 40 meters.  Size: about 21 x 18½ inches.
Produced by Mainly Maps (distributed by Hubbard Scientific), 1993 (based on 1985 US Geological Survey maps).  New.
Item #HS-M-TRL1921.  Shipping weight: 5.0 lbs.  Manufacturer’s price: $16.75.  Your price: $10.00 (closeout price)
