Printed on one side only, the map employs elevation contours to show the form of the land.  A solid green tint shows the extent of woodlands.  Shows lakes, rivers, creeks, washes, springs, and wells.  Township and section lines are marked.  Roads of all classes are depicted (but only US and state highways are numbered).  Shows major power lines, gravel pits, campgrounds, picnic areas, landing strips and more.  (See sample below.)

Cities, towns and settlements on the map include Young, Heber, Overgaard, Clay Springs, Linden, Snowflake, Taylor, Shumway, Show Low, Forestdale, Cibecue, and Grasshopper.  The lower left corner of the map is within Tonto National Forest, while Sitgreaves National Forest stretches across the top.  Fort Apache Indian Reservation covers most of the lower half of the map.  The major highways through the region are state 260, state 277, state 377, state 77, state 260, and US 60.  The left quarter of the map is within Coconino and Gila counties, the rest in Navajo County.

Important physical features on the map include Chevelon Canyon, Wildcat Canyon, Brookbank Canyon, Mogollon Rim, Pleasant Valley, Canyon Creek, Cibecue Creek, Carrizo Creek, Limestone Canyon, Hop Canyon, Corduroy Creek, Dodson Wash, and Silver Creek.

Scale, 1:100,000 (1 inch = about 1.6 miles).  Contour interval = 40 meters.  Size: about 43 x 23½.  Folded.  Paper.
