DeLorme Michigan Atlas & GazetteerDetailed topographic maps of the entire state show it in on about 100 map pages. Not only shows the major and local roads that a standard state road map covers, but also delineates local rural roads (and names them) and even many dirt roads. Other features include public lands, airports, landing strips, railroads, pipelines, powerlines, woodlands, orchards, vineyards, sandy areas, waterfalls, swamps, windmills, mine shafts, boat launch ramps, lighthouses, campgrounds, and more. The maps do not show standard elevation contours; instead, hills are indicated with hatch marks to show their presence. The maps are also gridded with latitude and longitude lines for the benefit of GPS users.
Additional symbols on the map are keyed to the gazetteer section, which in charts or short paragraphs list or describe individual features in these categories: Art Museums and Science Centers, Beaches, Bicycle Routes, Campgrounds, Canoe Trips, Downhill Skiing, Excursions and Scenic Drives, Forests and Wilderness Areas, Gardens, Golf Courses, Great Lakes Fishing Piers, Hiking, Historic Sites and Museums, Hunting, Inland Fishing, Parks, Sports, Unique Natural Features, Waterfalls, Wildlife, and Wineries. An index helps you locate cities, towns and other places on the maps.

Shaded relief gives depth to the map and makes the hilly areas readily discernible. All classes of roads clearly distinguished, with point to point distance along the major roads indicated in both miles and kilometers. Insets show detail maps of the main streets of Flint, Lansing, Kalamazoo, Saginaw, and Grand Rapids. A comprehensive index helps you locate the towns on the main map.
On the reverse are five additional maps: One shows the streets in detail for the riverside portion of Detroit and adjacent Windsor, Ontario. The second covers the main roads of the "Midwestern United States" (a title not quite consistent with US usage, since it extends from Kansas City to New York City, and from Thunder Bay in Ontario south to Macon, Georgia, but excludes several states we usually consider "Midwestern" such as Kansas, Nebraska, and the Dakotas). A third shows the main streets only of the Detroit region. A fourth shows the main streets of Chicago—in Illinois and not Michigan, but heck, they had space so why not include it?
