Maryland Maps & Atlases
DeLorme Maryland Delaware Atlas & GazetteerDetailed coverage of both states with topographic sectional maps. The sectional maps cover 55 pages of the atlas, and feature generalized elevation contours to represent the form of the land. They show roads of all sizes, including local roads, and trails, railways, major powerlines, wooded areas, wetlands, visitor centers, boat launch sites, public campgrounds, and more. Place names are indexed. An additional two-page spread shows highways of both states to give an overview.
The gazetteer features charts or descriptions of unique natural features, hiking, state lands, national lands, canoe trips, campgrounds, hunting, historic sites, museums, gardens, scenic drives, fishing, bicycling, and Chesapeake Bay lighthouses—all keyed to the maps.
On four pages are eight special maps of Chesapeake Bay Habitats. One shows the winter and summer ranges and spawning areas of the female blue crab, the second the winter and summer habitat of male blue crab, a third the habitat distribution of eastern oyster bars, the fourth habitat distribution of both hard clams and soft shell clams, the fifth the spawning areas of striped bass, and the sixth bald eagle concentration areas. The seventh map shows the distribution o submerged aquatic vegetation (an indicator of water quality), and the last special Chesapeake Bay map shows areas with low dissolved oxygen levels.
Scale of sectional maps, 1:100,000 (1 inch = about 1.6 miles). Contour interval = 15, 50, or 100 feet.
