On the reverse side is the southward extension of the map, which shows the region around Brasilia, and the coastal areas including Sao Paolo, Rio de Janeiro, and Salvador. Lines of latitude and longitude are included at 1 degree intervals.Major elevation levels are clearly enhanced with color tints, elevations are in meters. The maps show major and secondary roads, tracks, and paths. It also shows railways, ferries, canals, national parks, airports, points of interest, ruins, lighthouses, passes, mines, and more. An inset shows a detail of Îles du Salut, used as a French penal colony, with interesting historical notes. The legend explains symbols in English and Spanish.
