![]() The United States Puzzle
“Build the Puzzle & Learn the States”
A 55 piece puzzle of the United States, with pieces shaped like the states. The pieces are twice as thick as most puzzles, and are adorned with cartoony images with some greater or lesser relevance to states they adorn. Each state piece is labelled with the name and the state capital city. The manufacturer recommends it for ages 8 and up. I suspect kids older than 11 or 12 would find it too simple, and the little pictures give it a juvenile sense that they would not find cool to be associated with—except perhaps in conjunction with supervising the play of younger kids.
Completed size is about 30 x 18 inches.
Manufactured by A Broader View, designed in USA, made in Taiwan, 2007. New.
Item #BV-US-PUZZLE. Shipping weight: 3.0 lbs. Manufacturer’s suggested retail: $16.00. Your price: $12.50 (Only one left, closeout price)

“Build the Puzzle & Learn the World”
Both entertaining and educational, this colorful 600 piece puzzle features individual pieces shaped like the nations of the world, plus US states and Canadian provinces. The pieces which show the oceans, Antarctica, and border areas of the puzzle are cut into traditional interlocking jigsaw shapes.
To further enhance your geographical learning experience, the space covered by the oceans lists the names of each nation, US state, and Canadian province or territory (both common and official names, e.g. Morocco and Kingdom of Morocco); and the name of the capital city; plus recent population figures. The smallest countries or states are indicated with initials only on their respective puzzle pieces, but the expanded information shown in the oceans keys you to the full name.
The puzzle manufacturer says that of 100 people they surveyed, the average person could only locate 18 of the 193 nations. After completing the puzzle just once, that average score increased a whopping 400%!
While it is not specified by the maker, the projection used for the world map appears to be the Robinson, a great one for minimizing the distortion of relative size and shape produced by all flat world maps. Completed size is 36 x 18 inches.
