SPECIAL HEALTH & ENVIRONMENT NOTE: All inflatable globes on the market that we know of are made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC)—known as "vinyl" for short. Some advocacy groups believe that despite its extremely widespread and decades-long use (in everything from shower curtains, water pipes, and hospital IV bags, to toys, food and drink containers, car seat coverings, and "vinyl" records—not to mention the vinyl raised-relief maps we sell elsewhere on this website) it should be banned. These groups believe that PVC manufacturing causes high levels of pollution, that the leaching of harmful PVC additives and contaminants out of the product is detrimental to human health, and that when burned (such as when accidentally burned in a structural fire) it releases particularly toxic substances especially hazardous to firefighters. Here is a link to the Wikipedia article on the subject: Wikipedia PVC article. In addition, notice that all inflatable globes are made in China (other websites which sell these same products don't tell you this), which has been recently criticized for lax environmental and safety standards in manufacturing.
We leave it to you to decide; we are discontinuing them ourself. Though they have been a substantial source of income for Mindbird Maps, and we need all the income we can get, conscience does not permit us to restock them. If nothing else, we recommend that you let these globes air out in an open area before you inflate them and use them in a confined room. Also, keep them away from young kids who might chew on them.

Replogle 27-inch Inflate-A-Globe (Political)
This vinyl inflatable globe is best described as huge! Its 27-inch diameter size will dominate a small room. As a political globe, each country is clearly distinguished in contrasting colors. The major currents of the world’s oceans are boldly marked. The major and smaller cities are indicated. Do not, however, expect any of the inflatable globes to be as precise as a good rigid traditional globe; they are instead rather like an educational beach ball.
This globe is fitted with a loop with which you can attach a string (not included) to hang it from the ceiling. The loop is attached such that when hung, the globe will dangle at the same angle the earth tilts relative to the sun.

Scott Resources, Clever Catch World Geography 16-inch diameter inflatable globe
This is a fun globe game for learning world geography. The inflatable ball is printed with a simplified map of the continents, with the surface marked-off with dashed lines encircling a geography question. There are 122 of these questions, and the answers are included on the instruction sheet enlosed. The way the basic game works is that two or more players toss the ball to each other. The player who catches it is charged with answering the problem her left thumb touches. If she is correct, she gets a point. Examples of the questions include: "What country is due south of Egypt?"; "What gulf is located between Saudi Arabia and Iran?"; and "What is the world's most popular food?".
Comes with a repair patch in case it gets punctured. Recommended for grades 4 through 8. Note that the manufacturer's information calls this a "24-inch inflatable ball", but they are citing the length of the flattened product, not the inflated diameter which is 16 inches.
Scott Resources, 2000. Made in China. New.
