Shawnee National Forest

Detailed official recreation map printed on two sides on waterproof plastic.  This National Forest is in the extreme southern part of the state.  One side shows the western part of the area (including private and other public land outside the National Forest).  It is bounded by the Mississippi and Ohio rivers, and includes Kinkaid Lake Fish and Wildlife Area, Clear Springs Wilderness, Bald Knob Wilderness, Trail of Tears State Forest, Horseshoe Lake State Conservation Area, Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge, Giant City State Park, Ferne Clyffe State Park, and Cache River State Natural Area.

On the reverse side is the eastern part of the region, and overlaps the western area map several inches.  Some of the areas shown include Burden Falls, Bay Creek, Lusk Creek, Garden of the Gods wildernesses; Sahara Wood State Fish and Wildlife Areas, Dixon Springs State Park, and Fort Massac State Park.

The maps show primary and secondary highways, various classes of light duty roads, unimproved dirt roads, trails, railroads, and power lines.  National Scenic Byways are highlighted, and the River to River Trail is also specially marked.  Also located are Forest Service Headquarters, district offices, and other facilities; mines, quarries, or gravel pits; buildings, schools, churches, cemeteries; campgrounds, picnic areas, visitor centers, information centers, points of interest, trailheads, lodging, marinas, boat ramps, and more.  Also shows township and section lines.  The maps are gridded with the boundary lines of USGS 7.5' quad maps, and an index to these is provided.

Supplementary text describes the area and recreational opportunities, and full-color photos show you scenes from the forest.
