Banff National Park

Gem Trek Banff & Mount Assiniboine Hiking Map & Guide
Detailed topographic map and visitors guide, printed on two sides, shows about half of Banff National Park (omitting the northern half and a little piece of the easternmost portion), and all of Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park, in a region straddling the British Columbia-Alberta border.  The main map is on one side and it includes Lake Louise Village (but not the lake itself), Bonnet Glacier, Banff, most of Lake Minnewanka, Canmore, Spray Lakes Reservoir, and parts of the Kootenay River.  It also shows about half of Kootenay National Park, a part of Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, and a part of Ghost River Wilderness Area.  

The map details roads, railroads, trails (with point-to-point distances in kilometers), campgrounds, backcountry camps, backcountry huts, warden cabins and stations, hostels, lodges, picnic sites, boat launches, ski areas, viewpoints, visitor centres, parking, and more.  Topographic contours are in meters.  Elevations of summits are indicated in both meters and feet.  The map is unobtrusively but distinctly gridded with UTM lines especially for GPS users, at 2000 meter intervals.

On the reverse is the visitor's guide, describing hikes, facilities, and recreational opportunities in specific areas depicted on the main map.  Nine full-color photos give you a taste of what the landscape has to offer.  There are also three detail maps: the first a street map of Banff Townsite, the second a topographic map detail of the Sunshine Village and Sunshine Meadows Area, and the third a larger topographic map detail of the Mount Assiniboine Area.

Kootenay National Park

Map and guide printed on two sides.  On one side is the detailed topographic map, which shows the entire national park and generous amounts of adjacent lands.  This park is due south of Lake Louise and adjacent to Banff and Yoho national parks, and the map includes significant portions of the latter parks.  In fact, the map overlaps the coverage of the Banff & Mount Assiniboine map described above, with about 40% of the area on that map also included on this map.

Pacific Rim National Park

International Travel Maps West Coast Trail
Detailed topographic map printed on two sides shows all of Pacific Rim National Park and adjacent wildlands, features the challenging West Coast Trail.  This region is on the southwestern Pacific-facing side of Vancouver Island, British Columbia.  On one side is the west portion of the region ranging from Trevor Channel, Cape Beale, and the town of Bamfield, east to Nitinat Lake.  On the reverse side, the map continues eastward to Port San Juan, where the West Coast Trail terminates (or begins, depending on which way you hike it).  Generous portions of the adjacent Juan de Fuca Forest are also mapped, as are also Carmanah Pacific Provincial Park, Botanical Beach Provincial Park, and a number of Indian Reserves.

In addition to the West Coast Trail, the map depicts "Major Loose Surface" and logging roads, other trails, boat ramps, cable car crossings (the only way across some waterways), campgrounds, canoeing, fishing areas, parking, picnic sites, toilets, viewpoints and visitor information.  Also marked are the locations of about two dozen shipwrecks, with the name of the ship and the date.  Text boxes scattered throughout the map give specific notes about hazards and features along the trail and other areas.

Waterton Lakes National Park
