California & Nevada Regional Raised Relief Maps

These vinyl raised relief maps all measure about 32 inches wide by 21 inches high (which the exception of the slightly wider Monterey quad and the smaller Santa Maria quad, and the tall and skinny Eureka quad). The scale is 1:250,000, which is approximately four miles to the inch. The topography has two to one vertical exageration—which means the mountains are represented as twice as high proportionally as they are in real life. All include topographic contours at 200 foot intervals.
They are quite detailed and show such features as roads, railroads, airports and landing strips, county boundaries, woodlands, mines, orchards, oil wells, water features and more. Each is usually two degrees of longitude wide, one degree high (with some exceptions). You can buy adjacent maps and make a striking mosaic of them to cover just the regions you are interested in most.
Click here for an index to regional raised relief maps we stock. This will show you which maps are adjacent.
They are based on the latest USGS maps—and as such, they are quite dated (the dates are noted just above the prices). You buy these for the topography, not for current roads and park boundaries! All are published by Hubbard Scientific.
These items ship UPS Ground Service and cannot be shipped to a PO Box. If a PO Box is the only kind of address that is convenient for you, contact us for a shipping quote: but be forewarned, shipping these oversized items via the US Postal Service will cost you two to over four times as much as the UPS Ground rates.
If having these maps sent to Hawai'i or Alaska, or to a US possesion, please read shipping page before ordering. You will need an individual shipping quote based on your address; it is several times as expensive as the rest of the country.

Eureka, California
Maps in this series typically cover two degrees of longitudes of width by one degree of latitude high. If that plan were maintained in this region, there would be two maps with a fairly narrow strip of land on the right and large stretches of the Pacific Ocean on the rest of the map. Instead, the designers opted for a tall, skinny map, which still has more ocean than land, but which shows important coastline features, and serving as an effective "endcap" to the adjacent Weed and Redding maps. Cities and towns on the map include Eureka, Arcata, Crescent City, Scotia, Rohnerville, Loleta, Ferndale, Indianola, Bayside, McKinleyville, Trinidad, Klamath, Fort Dick, and Smith River. Important conservation areas shown include King Range National Conservation Area, Humboldt Redwoods State Park, Patricks Point State Park, Redwood National Park, Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park, Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park, and Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. Important physical features shown include Point Delgado, Punta Gorda, Matole River, Cape Mendocino, Bear River Ridge, Eel River, Humboldt Bay, Big Lagoon, Stone Lagoon, Redwood Creek, Point St. George, and Smith River. Depth contours portray the undersea terrain, but this is 2-D only.
Bordered by latitudes 42 and 40 degrees, and by longitudes 125 and 124 degrees. Published 1977.
