Raven Arizona Laminated Wall Map
Detailed shaded relief map of the state vividly enhanced with graduated color tints to show the elevations.  Green represents the lowest elevation, lighter green a bit higher, yellow mid-elevations, tan higher, grey and white highest—with numerous gradations in between.  The shaded relief clearly shows the form of the mountains.  Details include lakes, rivers, streams, and washes, cities and towns, and major and minor roads (see sample at right.)

No detail is shown beyond the state boundaries.

USGS  Arizona Topographic Shaded Relief Wall Map
Not quite as striking as the Raven maps described above, but much more affordable—and actually a little larger.   This map has even more detail than the Raven versions, and for good reason: The Raven maps are based on layers derived from USGS, except Raven has omitted some data, such as land lines and National Forest boundaries.

The USGS Arizona shaded relief map includes elevations of numerous large and small peaks and key cities and towns, elevation contours enhanced with shaded relief (and flat lowlands accented by a light green tint), and railroads.  Also shows National Park, National Monument, National Forest, Indian Reservation, and military reservation boundaries, as well as county lines.  (Since the map was published before La Paz County split off from Yuma County, the former is not distinguished.)  Hundreds of large and small towns and communities are labelled, as are also lakes, rivers, and creeks.

Unlike previous printings of this map, the highways have been omitted entirely.

This map was a best-seller for the first year or two my shop was open, then it went out of stock at USGS for several years.  I am pleased that they have at last reprinted it.  Even without the highways, it is a good value.

Scale, 1:500,000 (1 inch = about 8 miles).  Contour interval = 500 feet.  Size: about 47½ x 54 inches.  Rolled.  Paper.
Published by US Geological Survey, 1972 (revised 1981).  New.
Item #USGS-40500.  Shipping weight: 4.1 lbs.  Publisher's price: $7.00.  Your price: $7.00

USGS  Arizona Topographic Wall Map
This map has all of the detail of the shaded relief version above, except the shaded relief, plus it shows roads.  Instead, it uses color tints to highlight the lands which are hard to distinguish on the shaded relief version: A red tint for National Parks and Monuments, green for National Forests, pink for Indian Reservations and military lands.

Like the preceding, it includes elevations of numerous large and small peaks and key cities and towns, elevation contours, major and minor roads (with state and federal highways numbered), and railways, as well as county lines and land lines.  (Since the map was published before La Paz County split off from Yuma County, the former is not distinguished.)  Hundreds of large and small towns and communities are labelled, as are also lakes, rivers, and creeks.
