Kalispell, Montana
Regional Raised Relief Maps ![]() Hubbard Scientific Kalispell, Montana regional raised relief map This three-dimensional vinyl map shows the far northwest corner of Montana (but two miles short of the Idaho border). The area is dominated by the Percell Mountains, Salish Mountains, and Whitefish Range, with a portion of Glacier National Park at upper right. Lake Koocanusa runs down the left-center, and part of Flathead Lake at the lower right. The title town of Kalispell is also in the lower right corner.
Maps in this series show elevation contours, with a green tint showing the extent of woodlands. Water features such as lakes, ponds, creeks, marshes, canals, and shorelines (where present) are indicated in detail. Shows roads and highways of all classes, and sometimes trails. Railroads are also shown. National, state, provincial, and county boundaries are demarcated, as are other boundaries such as parks and wildlife refuges. Other features shown in this series are mines, airstrips and airports, isolated landmark buildings, lookout towers, and more. The maps are lined with the UTM grid at 1000 meter intervals.
Few of the maps in this series are recently published. The manufacturer, Hubbard Scientific, uses data from the US Geological Survey, but USGS rarely updates any of the maps in this series; most use data 20 to 40 years old. You get them for the depiction of the topography, which rarely changes, not for current roads and city boundaries. In fact, many of them have an added appeal for their historical interest. See below for date of the map described on this page.
