Clarksburg, West Virginia
Regional Raised Relief Maps ![]() Hubbard Scientific Clarksburg, West Virginia regional raised relief map This three-dimensional vinyl map shows a section of southeast Ohio, northern West Virginia, and southwestern Pennsylvania. Something over a third of the map covers a part of Ohio, over half depicting West Virginia, and the balance the corner of Pennsylvania. the area cannot be called mountainous, but it is very hilly. The title city of Clarksburg in on the lower right corner. The map uses some symbols in different ways than other maps of the series, so if you are planning on making a mosaic of this with adjacent maps, be advised that it will stand out more than most; in particular, the minor local roads are emphasized more than other maps in the series; also, it uses the metric system so the elevation contours are in meters rather than feet (as the adjacent maps use).
Maps in this series show elevation contours, with a green tint showing the extent of woodlands. Water features such as lakes, ponds, creeks, marshes, canals, and shorelines (where present) are indicated in detail. Shows roads and highways of all classes, and sometimes trails. Railroads are also shown. National, state, provincial, and county boundaries are demarcated, as are other boundaries such as parks and wildlife refuges. Other features shown in this series are mines, airstrips and airports, isolated landmark buildings, lookout towers, and more. The maps are lined with the UTM grid at 1000 meter intervals.
Few maps in this series are recently published. The manufacturer, Hubbard Scientific, uses data from the US Geological Survey, but USGS rarely updates any of the maps in this series; most use data 20 to 40 years old. You get them for the depiction of the topography, which rarely changes, not for current roads and city boundaries. In fact, many of them have an added appeal for their historical interest. See below for date of the map described on this page.
